Your Old Town Mechanic, Close to Fort Hunt
Fort Hunt is the stretch of Fairfax County along the Potomac between Belle Haven and Mount Vernon, named for Fort Hunt Park on the George Washington Memorial Parkway. It's mostly single-family homes, longer drives and cars that families keep for a long time.
Old Town Exxon is a longer drive than some shops, at five to six miles, but it's an easy one. The parkway runs straight into Old Town as S. Washington Street, and we're at number 501, on the corner of Wilkes Street. Combine a service visit with a trip into Old Town and the drive pays for itself.

What Fort Hunt Drivers Need Most
Longer parkway drives and cars kept for many years put the focus on maintenance and wear items.
- Preventative Maintenance
A car you plan to keep for ten years needs its fluids, belts and filters changed on schedule. We'll tell you what's due and what can wait.
- Brake Repair
Parkway speeds and the stop at the first Old Town light are where worn brakes show up.
- AC & Heating
Longer drives in summer traffic make a weak A/C hard to ignore. Have it checked before the first heat wave.
- State Inspections
Fairfax County cars follow the same inspection rules. Get the yearly sticker done on the same trip as any other service.
Virginia Inspections for Fort Hunt Drivers
Fairfax County is in the same Northern Virginia emissions program area as the City of Alexandria, so the rules are identical: an annual safety inspection, plus an emissions test every two years for most gas vehicles. We're an official Virginia DEQ Air Check emissions station and do annual safety inspections. Fees are capped by the state at $20 for safety and $30 for emissions, and a failed emissions test can be retested here free within 14 days.
